General Advice
The Internet can be a wonderful source of knowledge and entertainment for children. However, its services (websites, e-mail, newsgroups, chat rooms etc.) can also contain content that may be harmful to your child.
Some core safety tips are easily remembered under the slogan Tender Loving Care (TLCs). See the TLCs for parents by clicking "Advice for Parents" on the left. For TLCs that you can teach to your children, so they can help themselves surf more safely, click on "Advice for Children".
Our Safer Internet Ireland Awareness partners "Webwise" provide a complete range of Internet safety advice for parents, especially for those with children of primary school age.
Our Helpline partner in the Safer Internet Ireland project is "Childline". They provide a 24/7 service for children under 18 who feel they need to talk about life difficulties they are having both online and in their everyday lives. This is now accessible as an online "messaging" service.
