Success Examples
In previous years, when there were no reports traced to Ireland, confirmation of successful outcomes was often hard to come by. To Hotline.ie success was generally the knowledge that we had done our part to rapidly forward a report so action could be taken elsewhere. However, we rarely obtain feedback which informs us what happened subsequently.
Sometimes another INHOPE hotline informs us that they agreed with our findings, have verified it is located in their country and that they have passed it on to their national police and, where their law permits, informed the relevant ISP for "take down". However, on rare occasions they can give us details of their follow-up and the successful conclusion.
However, with a first case in Ireland in 2009 we have a definite success story to relate and, what is more, we have been able to feed that back to the INHOPE Hotline in the UK that forwarded the report to us in the first place.
The subsequent subsections to this chapter present some examples of successful outcomes.
